DUANE STEPHENSON

BIOGRAPHY
Duane Stephenson is a Jamaican singer/songwriter widely admired for his poignant lyrics, sincere vocals, insightful commentaries and deeply rooted spirituality. His debut album "From August Town" was included in Billboard's "Six Essential Albums Heralding Roots Rock's Resurgence" with Patricia Meschino commenting on Stephenson's "beautifully nuanced vocals and heartfelt lyrics". The title track "August Town", a contemplative tale of intermittent war torn conditions in the Kingston community where Duane was born is considered to be his signature song.

Following the release of his critically acclaimed debut, Stephenson performed on several major stages across Jamaica, including Reggae Sumfest and the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival; he has since toured extensively throughout the Americas, Europe and the Caribbean.

Duane Stephenson has one of the most distinctive voices in reggae both literally and figuratively. His extensive catalog includes a diverse range from ballads such as "Fool For You" to interpretations that are now closely associated with Duane including Tyrone Taylor's "Cottage in Negril" and Gregory Isaacs's "Cool Runnings". Duane's solid performances and his affable demeanor makes him a highly demanded performer around the Globe.
